Marisa Pavan
Marisa Pavan (born June 19, 1932 in Cagliari , Sardinia ; actually Maria Luisa Pierangeli ) is an Italian actress .
Life
Marisa Pavan attended Torquada Tasso College in the United States before moving to Hollywood in 1952 and receiving a supporting role in John Ford's war drama What Price Glory . Just three years later she celebrated her breakthrough as an actress with her fourth Hollywood role in the melodrama The Tattooed Rose (1955). The part as the daughter of Anna Magnani brought her the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1956 . At the Academy Awards in the same year, she accepted the Academy Award on behalf of the absent Magnani, while she herself had to give way to the American Jo Van Fleet ( Beyond Eden ), nominated for best female supporting role . In the following historical epics Diane - Courtesan of France (1956) or Salomon and the Queen of Sheba (1959), she stood in the shadow of her film partners Lana Turner and Gina Lollobrigida and in the early 1960s she increasingly turned to work on US television. In the following decades she also accepted offers in Europe. It was last seen in an episode of the French television series Haute Tension in 1992 .
Marisa Pavan was the second wife of the French actor Jean-Pierre Aumont , with whom she was married from 1956 until his death in 2001. From this marriage came the sons Jean-Claude and Patrick. In the 1960s, she toured the United States, Canada and Mexico with her husband as a singer. In 1974 she achieved overseas success with the French version of Burt Bacharach's song "Green Grass Starts to Grow" . Pavan was the twin sister of actress Pier Angeli , who died in 1971 from a barbiturate overdose .
