Cinema program Vienna, 1896
  • March 27th : From this day on, there will be daily film screening in Vienna for the first time in the mezzanine of the house at Kärntner Strasse 45 / corner Krugerstrasse 2 in the First District of Vienna . There Eugène Dupont, an envoy from the Lumières, presented their first works. This is done for an entry fee of 50 cruisers and is possible daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • April 20 : The first screening with Lumières Cinematograph in Germany takes place in Cologne . The company Deutsche Automaten Gesellschaft Stollwerck & Co. had acquired the evaluation rights for Germany.
  • April 25 : In the Wilhelmshallen in Berlin , Unter den Linden 21, a film screening room of the German Cinematographic Society opens. The projection room is considered the first cinema in Germany. The managing director is Gustav Schönwald
  • July 11th : In Munich on Neuhauserstraße, the showman Carl Gabriel in his Panoptikum holds the first screening of the so-called living pictures in the Bavarian capital.
