Hermann Basler

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hermann Siegfried Basler (born October 6, 1896 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ; † September 17, 1982 in Inning am Ammersee ) was a German actor , film producer and screenwriter .

Life

Basler stayed in the USA from 1916 to 1918 , from where he brought his enthusiasm for suspense films back to Germany, which he then produced from 1919 with the “Chateau Kunst-Film” first in Heidelberg, later in Ludwigshafen and finally in Berlin. As an actor, he not only engaged lay people from sports clubs and industrial workers from the Hemshof , but also his family - his father Adolf also supported him as an assistant director and his mother Mary as a co-author - and numerous young actors, including Kurt Bernhardt and Conny Carstennsen , and cameraman Phil Jutzi . This is how films are made with the detective “Ferry White” and the gun hero “Bull Arizona” - influenced by William S. Hart - and also an ocean drama filmed on the Neckar.

In the mid-1920s, Basler had to pay tribute to the great competition and the introduction of censorship in 1920 and could not keep up with its small production company in the market. He left the film business and worked as an entrepreneur in the woodworking industry. B. produced chipboard with his company. He also succeeded in making numerous inventions and having them registered as patents.
