  • June 26: World premiere of Gold Rush (directed by Charles Chaplin ). Chaplin wanted to be remembered for this film. With the eating of the shoe and the "roll dance" the film contains two famous scenes.
  • September 21: World premiere of Battleship Potemkin (directed by Sergei Eisenstein ) in Moscow's Bolshoi Theater . In several votes this film was voted the best film of all time in the following decades.
