Benno Mieth

Benno Mieth ( Beno Mět in Upper Sorbian ; born June 6, 1925 in Teichhäuser ; † April 1, 2011 in Weinsberg ) was a German - Sorbian actor . He was mainly seen in popular character roles .

Life

The son of a quarry worker began training as an actor after the Second World War . Mieth received his first theater engagement in 1950 at the Sorbian People's Theater in Bautzen . This was followed by engagements at Theater Cottbus (1956), Bautzen City Theater (1958 and 1961), Theater of the Young Generation in Dresden (1959), Theater der Bergarbeiter in Senftenberg (1962), Landestheater Halle (1972) and from 1990 to 1996 again at Bautzener German-Sorbian People's Theater. Then Mieth worked as a freelancer in Bautzen. Mieth also received roles in several feature films, including the TV series Polizeiruf 110 .

Mieth had three sons. His wife Johanna, b. Mros, was also involved in the miners' theater and died at the age of 54. His granddaughter Nicole Mieth also works as an actress.
