Teichhäuser , in Upper Sorbian Haty , is a settlement in the center of the Bautzen district in eastern Saxony and has always been part of the Räckelwitz community . The place is located in Upper Lusatia and is part of the core settlement area of the Sorbs . The majority of the inhabitants speak Sorbian as their mother tongue.

The group of houses Teichhäuser is located in the agriculturally used floodplain of the monastery water , to the right of this, about two kilometers north of Räckelwitz. The neighboring towns are Boundary in the northeast, Neudörfel in the south and Dreihäuser on the other side of the Klosterwasser in the west.

history

The settlement was built in the 18th century on the property of the Räckelwitz manor in the middle of the fish ponds that still existed at the time, between the Gränzteich in the north and the Mittelteich in the south. Even after the ponds were made into fields in the 19th century, the settlement remained and the name was retained. Until well into the 20th century, the settlement was sometimes referred to as ponds . The Sorbian place name means "ponds".
