June Lockhart (2009)

June Lockhart (born June 25, 1925 in New York City , New York ) is an American actress .

Life

Lockhart is the daughter of actors Gene Lockhart and Kathleen Lockhart . She made her acting debut at the age of eight in the Metropolitan Opera production of Peter Ibbetson . She had her first feature film role in 1938 at the side of her parents as Melinda Cratchit in A Christmas Carol , where her parents also played her film parents. In the 1940s she got supporting roles in Hollywood movies like Hell, Where's Your Victory? , Meet Me in St. Louis and The Wilderness is calling .

In 1948 she won a Tony Award for her role in the Broadway production For Love or Money . In the following decade, she initially starred mainly guest roles on various television series, including western series such as A Thousand Miles of Dust , Adventures in the Wild West, and Smoking Colts . Between 1958 and 1964 she played the mother of Timmy in the series Lassie in 207 episodes. The following year she got one of the leading roles in the series Lost Between Alien Worlds . Until 1968 she played the role of Dr. Maureen Robinson . After that series ended, she starred in the sitcom Petticoat Junction from 1968 to 1970 . Between 1984 and 1998 she played the recurring role of Maria Ramirez with interruptions in the soap opera General Hospital . In 1986 she took over in the fantasy film Troll at the side of her daughter Anne Lockhart . She made a cameo in the 1998 film Lost in Space, based on the television series .

Lockhart is currently still an actress, making it one of the longest-running Hollywood careers. She is twice divorced and has two daughters.
