After an informant who was important to the American Treasury was murdered in Los Angeles, investigators Dennis O'Brien and Tony Genaro are supposed to dig a counterfeit ring as undercover agents. Through painstaking detailed work, they manage to gain the trust of a Detroit gangster who has good connections to the gang in California. While trying to penetrate step by step to the top of the organization, Genaro is finally exposed and O'Brien has to stand by and watch as his partner is shot by the unscrupulous killer Moxie. Undeterred, however, he continues his job single-handedly and moves ever closer to the real mastermind. The whole gang is finally arrested and the fleeing Moxie is shot by O'Brien.

Secret Agent T was released in US cinemas on December 15, 1947. In Germany it was released on January 13, 1950.

“A crime film based on authentic files from the Los Angeles police force, skilfully staged, exciting, tough, realistic,” wrote the lexicon of the international film , which also noted: “What starts out like a documentary in an educational and patriotic tone develops into an oppressive one Journey through the universe of 'film noir'. "
