Jane Randolph
Jane Randolph (born October 30, 1915 in Youngstown , Ohio , † May 4, 2009 in Saanen - Gstaad , Switzerland ; actually Jane Roemer ) was an American actress .
Life
In the 1930s, Jane Randolph moved from Indiana to Hollywood to pursue a career as a film actress. There she was signed by Warner Bros. during her acting training . After a few small roles in Warner film productions, RKO Pictures took over her contract in 1942 . That same year, Randolph got her first lead role in the crime comedy Highways by Night alongside Richard Carlson . A few bigger and bigger roles followed in B-movie productions of the film noir . Most of the time, Randolph played vulnerable characters in them, including her greatest success, the psychological thriller Cat People by Jacques Tourneur . In a much-cited scene, she flees through New York's Central Park in panic fear of a possibly imaginary panther . Her other films include the sequel The Curse of the Cat People , Anthony Mann's thriller The Perfumed Killer, and the comedy Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein .
After her wedding to Spanish businessman Jaime del Almo in 1949, Randolph ended her acting career and moved to live with her husband in Spain. She had one last film appearance, unnamed in opening and closing credits, in Terence Young's film The King's Lady, shot in Madrid in 1955 . Since the 1960s she lived with her husband Jaime del Amo, with whom she had a daughter, in the Swiss town of Gstaad.
Randolph spent the last years of her life alternately in Los Angeles and in a chalet in Switzerland. After a hip fracture and subsequent complications, she died on May 4, 2009 at the age of 93 in Gstaad.
