Night shift with John (original title: The John Larroquette Show ) is an American sitcom , of which a total of 84 episodes were produced from 1993 to 1996.

action

John Hemingway runs the night shift at a St. Louis bus station . He spends his time there in his office, where he has to deal with all kinds of strange characters, and in the waiting hall with the counter clerk Mahalia Sanchez, the takeaway seller Dexter Walker, the caretaker Gene or the prostitute Carly Watkins. The police officers Hampton and Eggers, the bus driver Max and the homeless Oscar are constant guests at the bus station. The desolation of his job tempts the dry alcoholic Hemingway to drink again.

From the second season, the concept of the series was changed at the request of the broadcaster NBC. The disreputable atmosphere disappeared and John's drinking problem faded into the background with the introduction of neighbor Catherine Merrick.

Broadcast Notes

In Germany, the first season ran from September 4, 1995 on Kabel 1 . The remaining episodes - with one exception - were broadcast by DF1 Comedy & Co. in 1997/1998 . Then Sat.1 showed the first three seasons of the series in 1998/1999, which has not been shown on German free TV since then and was last repeated by Premiere Serie in 2004 .

The episode There's a Mister Hitler Here to See You was omitted in Germany. In a subplot, John has to deal with a neo-Nazi who wants to rent an omnibus.

The German voice of John Larroquette was Ivar Combrinck , who already dubbed him in Harry's miraculous criminal court and was also responsible for the German version of both series.
