Wojciech Has
Wojciech Jerzy Has (born April 1, 1925 in Krakow ; † October 3, 2000 in Łódź ) was a Polish film director .
Wojciech Has began to study film and painting in Krakow after the Second World War . Initially, he specialized in documentary and educational films. It wasn't until 1958 that he made his first feature film . He made films that are now classics of Polish cinema and that have shaped the style of the Łódź Film School to this day. His most famous films include The Manuscript of Saragossa after Jan Potocki from 1965 with Zbigniew Cybulski and The Sanatorium on the Obituary from 1973 after Bruno Schulz , as well as The Doll from 1969 after Boleslaw Prus .
Has shaped the Polish film scene above all through his pedagogical skills and influence on young directors who graduated from the Łódź Film School.
