Enrico Medioli

Enrico Medioli (born March 17, 1925 in Parma , Emilia-Romagna , † April 21, 2017 in Orvieto , Umbria ) was an Italian screenwriter .

Life

Enrico Medioli has appeared as a screenwriter since 1954 and was involved in more than 30 film and television productions by 2012. There are many dramas in his repertoire.

After moving to Rome, Medioli first wrote a musical comedy, Lina e il cavaliere . Pioneering was his collaboration with Luchino Visconti , for whom he initially worked as an assistant director in several operas and with whom a long artistic collaboration followed; their collaborations extended into the 1970s. Together with some colleagues, they were honored with the Nastro d'Argento for the best screenplay in 1961 for the script for Rocco and his brothers . Until the 1970s, Medioli was nominated seven more times for this award. At the 1970 Academy Awards , Medioli, Visconti and Nicola Badalucco received an Oscar nomination for the screenplay for Die Verdammten in the Best Original Screenplay category . Medioli's work is outlined as "refined, inspired by literary roots, romantic and decadent".

In addition to his collaborations with Visconti, Medioli has also written for Alberto Lattuada , Valerio Zurlini , Mauro Bolognini and others. Since the mid-1980s, he has worked almost exclusively for television, rewriting numerous classics.

Enrico Medioli died on April 21, 2017 at the age of 92 in Orvieto , where he had lived for almost 30 years.
