Geraldine Brooks , actually Geraldine Stroock (born October 29, 1925 in New York City , † June 19, 1977 in Riverhead , New York ), was an American actress .

Life

Geraldine Brooks was born in 1925 to Dutch parents. Her mother was a theatrical costume designer and her father ran a costume shop in New York. She received an acting training in New York and initially played at repertoire theaters in the provinces. In 1947 she got her first film role. She starred alongside Errol Flynn and Barbara Stanwyck in Cry Wolf . In the same year she starred opposite Joan Crawford in Uninhibited Love as their stepdaughter. In 1952 she made her Broadway debut . At the same time, she began to act in numerous television series and was only seen sporadically on the big screen. In 1958 she married the television writer Herbert Sargent . The couple divorced in 1961. In 1964 Geraldine Brooks married the writer and Oscar winner Budd Schulberg . They were married until her untimely death in 1977. Geraldine Brooks died of breast cancer .
