Giorgio Pàstina

Giorgio Pàstina (* 1905 in Andria , † 1956 in Rome ) was an Italian film director and screenwriter .

Life

Pàstina graduated in literature and philosophy and initially devoted some time to teaching; as a result, he came into management positions in the entertainment industry, which brought him into contact with the film world. There he worked as a screenwriter from 1942 (initially for Camillo Mastrocinque , later also for Mario Camerini , Guido Brignone and his former colleague at the Esodo Pratelli censorship commission ) and the following year he directed Enrico IV, his first feature film based on the drama Luigi of the same name Pirandello. From 1946 onwards, Pàstina regularly made films that met the public's taste and are technically neat, but hardly outstanding. Noteworthy among his sixteen works are Le vie del peccato (with an early hint of a nude scene by the main actress Jacqueline Laurent ), the brilliant comedy Agenzia matrimoniale based on Eduardo Scarpetta, and Il cardinale Lambertini based on Alfredo Testoni , brilliantly played with Gino Cervi in the title role , one of several Film adaptations of the material. After several works from the Neapolitan milieu, Pàstina died at the age of only 50.
