Yesterday Started Tomorrow is the third album by the American punk band Angry Samoans . With six titles and twelve minutes playing time, it is only the size of an EP . It was released in 1986 on Triple X Records and marked a turning point for the band, who had previously played aggressive, provocative punk characterized by bizarre humor, and with this album clearly hinted at alternative influences.

History of origin
Yesterday Started Tomorrow was recorded in just two days on April 12th and 13th, 1986 at Penguin Studios in Glendale , California . According to Gregg Turner, the album should be a return to the original virtues of the band and in the end it sounded more like music of the 1960s than was originally planned. Turner also states that the production of the album suffered from great time pressure because a new sound carrier was to be pressed on the market for an imminent tour.
reception
Allmusic criticized the fact that the band had moved away from a "hate-driven, tormenting" hardcore and towards a "third-rate, lousy alternative rock sound". Chicago Reader's Mark Jenkins found the EP backward-looking and "surprisingly bland", making comparisons with Count Five and the 13th Floor Elevators .
