Joseph Sargent
Joseph Sargent (actually Giuseppe Danielle Sorgente ; born July 22, 1925 in Jersey City , New Jersey - † December 22, 2014 in Malibu , California ) was an American film director , producer and actor .
Life
Sargent began his acting career in the early 1950s. He played mainly guest roles in television series and small supporting roles, some of which were not mentioned in the credits, in films such as Damned in All Eternity and Tobruk . His career as a director began in the 1960s when he directed episodes of such successful formats as Lassie , Rauchende Colts and Auf der Flucht . Among other things, he also made episode 10 of the Spaceship Enterprise series , entitled Poker Games . He made his feature film debut as a director in 1966 with A Spy Too Many , a cinema adaptation of the solo series for ONCEL One of his best-known films is Stops the Death Ride of the U-Bahn 123 from 1974, which was published in 2009 by Tony Scott under the title The Abduction of the Pelham U-Bahn 123 was re-filmed. His sequel to Steven Spielberg's Jaws in 1987 came the flop and both the film as well as its director were in 1988 for the Golden Raspberry nominations.
Sargent was married to actress Carolyn Nelson since 1970 in second marriage . From his first marriage to Mary Carver , the daughter Lia Sargent emerged.
