Martha Vickers
Martha Vickers (born May 28, 1925 in Ann Arbor , Michigan as Martha MacVicar , † November 2, 1971 in Hollywood , California ) was an American actress .
Life
Vickers, who began her career as a model and cover girl, played her first small extra role in 1943 in Frankenstein meets the wolf man . She celebrated the greatest success in 1946 at the side of Humphrey Bogart as Lauren Bacall's younger sister Carmen Sternwood in the thriller Dead Sleeping . After that, only small roles in insignificant films followed. After Vickers had appeared in several TV productions in the 1950s, she finally retired into private life in 1960.
Martha Vickers was married to producer AC Lyles from 1948 to 1949 , to actor Mickey Rooney from 1949 to 1951 and to actor Manuel Rojas from 1954 to 1965. She was the mother of one son and two daughters. Her son is the actor Teddy Rooney . She died of esophageal cancer at the age of 46 and is buried in the Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery in Hollywood.
