Philip Carey
Philip Carey (often also Phil Carey ; born July 15, 1925 in Hackensack , New Jersey ; † February 6, 2009 in New York City , New York ; actually Eugene Joseph Carey ) was an American actor .
Life
Philip Carey grew up in Long Island and served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War . After studying acting at the University of Miami , he began his career in the early 1950s with a contract with Warner Bros. , where he played various supporting roles, for example in company sea eagles with John Wayne . In 1953 he moved to Columbia Pictures and appeared there in numerous westerns . In 1956 he took the lead role in the western series Tales of the 77th Bengal Lancers , 1959 followed the title role in the series Philip Marlowe , which he played in 26 episodes until the series was canceled. In the 1960s he starred in other westerns and had guest roles on various series such as West of Santa Fé and The People of Shiloh Ranch . Between 1965 and 1967 he had the recurring role of Captain Edward Parmalee in the western series Laredo .
From 1979 to 2007 he played the role of Asa Buchanan in the soap opera Love, Lie, Passion . He dropped out of the series after he was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2006 . He died on February 6, 2009 at the age of 83.
