Bright genius Virkner (born September 15, 1925 in Aarhus , † June 10, 2009 in Charlottenlund, Gentofte ; née Lotinga ) was a Danish actress .

Life

She was the daughter of landowners Moritz Lotinga and Ellen Larsine Rasmussen and grew up in Ry near Skanderborg . The parental home in Lille Glentholm now serves as the pastorate. In 1931 the parents went their separate ways; Mother and daughter moved to Copenhagen . After graduating from high school, she worked as an extra at the Folketeatret and the Det Ny Teater . During the German occupation of Denmark , her Jewish father had to go into exile in Sweden. Helle Lotinga took the surname Virkner during this period to reduce the risk of persecution. From 1944 to 1946 she attended the school of the Royal Theater ( Det Kongelige Teaters elevskole ). There she met William Rosenberg , whom she married on October 6, 1946. Their first marriage ended in divorce in 1949. From 1946 to 1951 she worked as an actress at the Royal Theater in Copenhagen. After that she played in many different theaters in Copenhagen and the surrounding area.

She also played in many Danish film productions, such as Kispus (1956), Mor Skal giftes (1958), Einesteils der Liebe towards films (1959–1961), Olsen Gang and Matador . One of her last roles was in Flickering Lights in 2000 as Aunt Beate.

Virkner was married to the actor Ebbe Rode in his second marriage (1949-1959) . From her third marriage (1959–1973) with the politician Jens Otto Krag , the children Astrid Helene, called Søsser , and Jens Christian emerged.
