Ry (formerly: Rye ) is a Danish railway town (Danish: stationsby ), which is located in the municipality of Skanderborg and belongs to the Midtjylland region. Ry lies between the lakes Gudensø , Birksø , Vessø , Lillesø , Rye Mølle Sø and Knudsø , which are part of the lake district that forms Denmark's longest river, the Gudenå . Until the Danish administrative reform on January 1, 2007 , Ry was the administrative seat of the Ry municipality .
history
In 1870, when the Skanderborg - Skjern ( Danish: Skanderborg-Skjern-banen ) railway was being built, a station was built at a crossroads in the Siim district, around which people settled. Due to the proximity of the place Rye (today: Gammel Rye (German: Alt-Rye )) the settlement around the station was called Ry Stationsby .

Until 1965 the increase in the number of inhabitants was below the national average, but from 1965 it was twice as high as the national average. Due to the expansion, Ry has grown together with the older village of Siim , so that it is now a district of Ry.
present
Ry is currently expanding strongly to the east through the Kildebjerg district project. Here work, leisure and living are integrated into one unit, e.g. B. an 18-hole golf course was built in the middle of the district.
Many musicians, artists and media people live in the town of Ry.
