Fred Personne (born August 20, 1932 in Auchel , Pas-de-Calais department as Alfred Célestin Personne ; † November 17, 2014 in Marmande , Lot-et-Garonne department ) was a French actor who worked between 1965 and 2013 in played over 150 film, television and short film productions, including in Kleine Fluchten , Forget Venice , Save yourself, who can (life) , Mein Fall or Willkommen bei den Sch'tis .

life and career

Fred Personne was born in 1932 in the small town of Auchel in northern France, the son of a grocer in the Pas-de-Calais department. Personne first studied literature in Béthune and Lille and then worked as a teacher before meeting the actor, theater director and theater manager Jean Vilar , who brought him to the stage of the National Theater of Flanders in 1958. This time was formative for Personne and so he switched from teaching to acting. Fred Personne has appeared in over 100 plays since the late 1950s.

Fred Personne began his television career in the mid-1960s with minor roles in television films and episodes of television series. In 1968 he made his film debut as an actor in Philippe Fourastié's crime drama La bande à Bonnot with Jacques Brel , Bruno Cremer and Annie Girardot in the leading roles. In the following decades, numerous prominent supporting roles followed in films such as Marcel Moussy's comedy Three Men on a Horse (1969), in Joseph Losey's crime film Monsieur Klein (1976), in Claude Zidi's comedy An Irrer Typ (1977), in Yves Yersin's award-winning one Film drama Kleine Fluchten (1979), where he played the role of John, in Jean-Luc Godard's drama Save yourself who can (life) (1980), in Manoel de Oliveira's cinema production Mein Fall (1986), in Nadine Trintignant's romantic drama Das Jadehaus (1988) or Monsieur Vasseur in Dany Boon's successful comedy Willkommen bei den Sch'tis (2008).

He made his last appearance in the French short film Le tableau by director Laurent Achard in 2013. Fred Personne died on November 17, 2014 at the age of 82 in Marmande, in the Lot-et-Garonne department.
