Greg Wise (born May 15, 1966 in Newcastle , England , United Kingdom ) is a British actor .

Life

As the son of an architecture professor, Greg Wise first studied architecture himself in Edinburgh , but dropped out and instead studied drama in Glasgow . His first engagement after drama school was the lead role in the musical "Good Rockin Tonight", which was based on the life of television producer Jack Good .

Wise has been married to Emma Thompson since 2003 , whom he met while filming the 1995 Oscar-winning film Sense and Sensibility . The couple have a daughter (* 1999) and, since 2003, an adopted son originally from Rwanda .

In May 2006 he took part in the Ruhr Festival in Recklinghausen - alongside Kevin Spacey in the title role - in a production of the Shakespeare play Richard II at the Old Vic Theater in London .
