Jules Furthman

Jules Furthman (born March 5, 1888 in Chicago , Illinois , † September 22, 1966 in Oxford , England , United Kingdom ) was an American screenwriter .

Life

After studying literature, Jules Furthman worked as a journalist and from 1915 wrote first exposés and from 1918 scripts for silent films. He soon had a good reputation as a writer and worked regularly with the directors Maurice Tourneur , Victor Fleming and Josef von Sternberg . At the beginning of the 50s his style was no longer in demand and he could only record late success with Rio Bravo . From 1920 until his death he was married to the actress Sybil Seely , who starred in five films as the partner of Buster Keaton .
