Adventures in the Yellow Sea (Original title: China Seas ) is an American adventure film by director Tay Garnett from 1935 .

action

Alan Gaskell is the captain of a steamship that sails in the Yellow Sea . He wants to make his way to Singapore with new valuable cargo and illustrious passengers . In his cabin he finds his girlfriend China Doll, who really wants to travel with him. He is against it, but cannot prevail. When his ex-lover Sybil Barclay also starts the voyage on his ship, the problems for Alan are inevitable. Sybil is a young widow with renewed hope for the attractive Alan Gaskell. When China Doll learns that Alan and Sybil are about to get married, she jealously breaks up with Alan and begins an affair with her old friend James MacArdle.

China Doll learns by chance that MacArdle is planning to steal Gaskell's cargo of gold. She warns Alan, who no longer trusts her, and he ignores the warning. China Doll feels insulted and steals the key to the hold for MacArdle. During a storm, Gaskell refuses to throw the loaded steamroller overboard, although the ship is in danger of capsizing. When the ship is finally attacked by pirates, all they find is sand instead of gold. Gaskell hid the money in the steamroller. MacArdle orders the pirates to torture Gaskell so that he can reveal the location of the hiding place. To Alan Gaskell he pretends not to be a pirate. The pirates can eventually be overwhelmed by former captain Tom Davids. China Doll and MacArdle now want to clear Gaskell's suspicion of piracy. But Gaskell knows that the two were involved. MacArdle eventually takes the guilt on himself, but kills himself shortly after his confession. When the ship reaches Singapore, Sybil realizes that Alan Gaskell is more in love with China Doll and leaves him. China Doll fears the police and Alan's loss upon arrival. But when Alan confesses his love for her, she calmly goes into the care of the police. Alan Gaskell, on the other hand, is preparing for a new journey.
