Alison Doody (born November 11, 1966 in Dublin ) is an Irish actress .

Life and accomplishments

Doody was born the youngest of three children. Her parents are Joan Doody, a cosmetic surgeon and Patrick Doody, a farmer. She was discovered during a photo shoot and began to work as a model , which increased her profile and enabled her to enter the film business .

One of her first appearances had Doody 1985 in a supporting role in the Bond film James Bond 007 - View to a Kill ( A View to a Kill ). In the years that followed, she worked in other film productions and played alongside great actors such as Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan . Her big break came in 1989 with the Steven Spielberg movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade , where she next to the actor Harrison Ford as the female lead role of Dr. Elsa Schneider took over. Other well-known roles that she played were that of Anne Marie Athos in The Ring of the Musketeers (1992) and in the Quatermain remake Quatermain and the Treasure of King Solomon (2004) as Elisabeth Maitland at the side of Patrick Swayze .

The successful director Peter Jackson also offered Doody the role of Éowyn in his Lord of the Rings trilogy, which she declined due to her pregnancy at the time. The role finally went to the Australian Miranda Otto .

Doody married businessman Gavin O'Reilly , son of Tony O'Reilly , in 1994 . From this marriage she has two daughters. In 2004 the two separated again.
