Jeffrey Dean Morgan (born April 22, 1966 in Seattle , Washington ) is an American actor .

Life

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who has Scottish roots, grew up in his native Seattle, where he attended Ben Franklin Elementary School, followed by Rose Hill Junior High. In 1984 he graduated from Lake Washington High School. In addition, he played football and basketball during his high school years. Then Morgan began studying at Skagit Valley College, which he dropped out after sustaining an injury. As a child he wanted to become a professional basketball player, but was unable to realize this dream because of his injury. He left school to pursue his other interests at the time: painting and writing. He also worked as a graphic artist to earn a living.

He got into acting when he moved from Seattle to Los Angeles . Today he is known for roles in the series Grey's Anatomy , Supernatural and Weeds - Little Deals Among Neighbors . In 2007 he starred alongside Hilary Swank in the film adaptation of Cecelia Ahern's novel PS I Love You , married in 2008 alongside Uma Thurman in Accidentally . He was also seen on the big screen as The Comedian in the superhero film Watchmen in 2009 . From 2015 to 2016 he had a leading role in the seventh and final season of the series Good Wife . Since 2016 he has played the lead role Negan in the series The Walking Dead . At the end of the sixth season of the series, he had a guest appearance for the first time and since season seven he mimes the antagonist. That same year, Morgan starred in the comic book adaptation Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as Thomas Wayne, the father of the main character.

In the spring of 2008, Morgan was briefly engaged to actress Mary-Louise Parker . Since the beginning of 2009 he has been in a relationship with the actress Hilarie Burton , known from One Tree Hill . Their son was born in March 2010. Their second child, a daughter, was born in February 2018. It is Jeffrey Dean Morgan's third child as he already had a son from a relationship with Sherrie Rose in 2005. Morgan and Burton got married in October 2019.
