Hilarie Ross Burton (born July 1, 1982 in Sterling , Virginia ) is an American actress and presenter .

Life

Burton recognized her passion for television early on and so she moved to New York at the age of 18 , where she took over the moderation of the well-known MTV show TRL . She had her first appearance as an actress in the youth series Dawson's Creek . A year later she got the role of Peyton Sawyer in the drama series One Tree Hill , which she impersonated until the end of the sixth season of the series. Since 2010 she played Sara Ellis in the crime series White Collar , at first only as a supporting actress, in the third season she was part of the main cast and from the fourth season she was again part of the supporting cast. On the side, Burton stayed true to the moderation and commuted between Wilmington, NC and New York until 2008 .

She has been married to actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan since October 2019. The couple has a son (* 2010) and a daughter (* 2018).

In 2008, Burton co-founded the independent film production company Southern Gothic Production in Wilmington with Kelly Tenney and Nicholas Gray . They publish a monthly music podcast that introduces lesser-known artists. In addition, in 2009 they produced the short film The True-Love Tale of Boyfriend & Girlfriend , which is distributed on the Filmbaby Internet platform .

Burton was appointed to the North Carolina Film Commission for three years for her involvement in the local film industry.
