Burning Zone - Expedition Killervirus is an American series that first aired on UPN in September 1996 . From 1998 she was shown in Germany on RTL . The plot revolves around a team of scientists and security experts who deal with epidemics , investigate their origins and try to find a cure .
background
The director of the health authority is putting together a team to research and, most importantly, fight a mutated virus . The emergency team for biological crisis defense was formed at the special order of the White House and is assigned its team leader in the second episode. The team consists of:
Dr. Daniel Cassian ( Michael Harris ): He doesn't appear until the second episode and is the head of the team. He decides when and where the team has the next assignment, but has to answer to a committee of the United States Department of Defense , which can also assign tasks. He specializes in disasters that have a chemical or biological origin.
Dr. Edward Marcase ( Jeffrey Dean Morgan ): He's a virologist . His parents were also doctors who fell ill and died from the Ebola virus . He survived the disease as a child and grew up with relatives. Because he has already survived a serious illness, he has become reckless and often takes unnecessary risks. He leaves the team after eleven episodes.
Dr. Kimberly Shiroma ( Tamlyn Tomita ): She is a specialist in pathology and molecular genetics . She previously worked for the World Health Organization. She is no longer there from episode twelve.
Michael Hailey ( James Black ): The former elite soldier is the security expert and part of the military counterintelligence service . He takes care of the investigation and the safety of the doctors should they be in danger.
Dr. Brian Taft ( Bradford Tatum ): He comes to the team to replace Edward and Kimberly and is a young, inventive doctor who has retained a youthful lightheartedness.
action
Dr. Reinhard sets up a team to work on an antidote for a virus that will make all other viruses immune to antidotes . Kimberly is very dismissive of Edward at first. She firmly believes that her fiancé died in vain and that Edward, who is immune to Ebola, is complicit in his death. Later the two clarify the situation, but their relationship only becomes really friendly later.
From the second episode, the team has a new leader, Dr. Daniel Cassian. Edward in particular is critical of Daniel. He doesn't trust him and fears that Daniel has a lot more information in the background than he tells the team. Despite everything, the team can successfully complete the first job and save an infected boy and the life of Edward, who is also infected.
You will learn more about Daniel later. When he is infected with a virus by an attacker, an old friend saves his life. He had left her behind believing that she had died. But she survived and became a healer in the jungle. She hears that his life is in danger and comes to save Daniel. But their love has no chance and they part again.
Daniel's niece is seriously ill with cancer and falls for a charlatan. Edward fakes the symptoms of an illness, or he creates them consciously in order to gain access to the shielded area. Michael and Kimberly accompany him to safety. Edward is able to convince Rebecca that the charlatan cannot really help her and that she has to undergo chemotherapy again .
From episode twelve, Edward and Kimberly are no longer in the team. Brian comes in for that.
