Ben Miller
Ben Miller (born February 24, 1966 in London , England ) is a British actor , comedian and screenwriter .
Life
Ben Miller was born in London but grew up with his two sisters in Nantwich in the county of Cheshire on. His father taught American literature at Birmingham City University and his mother taught English at South Cheshire College , Crewe . Miller attended the local school in Nantwich. After graduating there, he began studying science at St. Catharine's College , Cambridge . He also wanted to do a doctorate in quantum mechanics , but did not finish his dissertation.
While he was working on his dissertation, a friend asked if he would like to promote jurors at a cultural festival for ten pounds a day. According to his own account, it was a welcome opportunity for him, “since ten pounds was a lot of money for a student who somehow had to make a living” (“which was a lot of money for a struggling student”). As a result of this activity he met Alexander Armstrong . They put together a comedy program and so appeared in 1994 and 1996 under the name Armstrong & Miller at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and were nominated for the Perrier Comedy Award . Through this success, both got their own sketch show, Armstrong and Miller , on television. The show was broadcast from 1997 to 2001, a resumption with new episodes began in 2007. For the new edition of the show, he was nominated for a BAFTA award in 2008. They also had a radio show with the same title on BBC Radio 4 in 1998 . During this time he and Armstrong met Sarah Alexander , who first appeared on their show. Miller was then from 2004 to 2005 in the television series The Worst Week of My Life again with Alexander in front of the camera.
He had his first major film role in 2000 in the multiple award-winning film Nur Mut, Jimmy Grimble and in 2003 in Johnny English alongside Rowan Atkinson . In the same year he took on a speaking role in the sometimes very controversial TV series Popetown , which has not been broadcast in Great Britain due to violent protests by Catholics .
In Germany Miller is best known for the portrayal of James Lester in Primeval - Return of the Primeval Monsters . He has played this role since 2007 and a leading role in the television series Moving Wallpaper since 2008 . In 2009 and 2010 another season of The Armstrong & Miller Show was broadcast. From 2011 to 2014 he starred as DI Richard Poole in the television series Death in Paradise . Because he was separated from his family for a long time because of the filming in Guadeloupe , he left the series "with a heavy heart" during the third season. His successor was Kris Marshall .
From 2004 to 2011 he was married to actress Belinda Stewart-Wilson , who played a supporting role in the third season of Primeval . In 2006 their son was born. In 2013 he married producer Jessica Parker. This relationship resulted in two children, a son (* 2011) and a daughter (* 2015).
