Aja grew up in poor circumstances with his single mother in Mumbai . He makes his way as a con artist and street performer and dreams of one day traveling to Paris, the place where his father lived. After his mother's death, he set out on the trip and met Marie, a young American, in Paris. Before he meets her again, he goes on an adventurous journey through various European countries and North Africa - starting in a wardrobe.
