Romain Puértolas (born December 21, 1975 in Montpellier , France ) is a French writer .

Life

With the book Le jour où Shakespeare a inventé le moonwalk , Puértolas made his debut as a writer. With his second novel L'extraordinaire voyage du fakir qui était resté coincé dans une armoire Ikea , he achieved his international breakthrough a year later. The book was a hit with audiences. It was nominated for the prestigious Prix ​​Renaudot literary prize. By March 2014, the book had sold over 300,000 copies in France alone. It was translated into 36 languages ​​and made into a film ; the film was released in German cinemas at the end of November 2018.
