Nantwich is a small town and civil parish in Cheshire with 17,424 inhabitants (2011). The place is between Nottingham and Liverpool near the Welsh border on the River Weaver .
In December 1583 a fire raged in the small town for 20 days, which killed around half of the buildings. At the beginning of 1644 Nantwich was besieged by the Irish in the English Civil War .
Molda UK Limited is headquartered in the city . In the northwest the Llangollen Canal begins , in the 19th century the place was opened up by the Nantwich and Market Drayton Railway .
In addition to St Mary's Church, some buildings that survived a major fire in 1583 are worth seeing , such as the Churche's Mansion, the Crown Hotel on High Street or 116 Hospital Street , and also Combermere Abbey, 12 km south .
