Alexander Armstrong (born March 2, 1970 in Rothbury ) is a British actor , television presenter and comedian .

Life

Alexander Armstrong grew up in Northumberland . At the age of eleven he attended St. Mary's Music School in Edinburgh. There he specialized in singing, piano and cello. He later went to Durham School. He then attended Trinity College, Cambridge . After graduating from college in 1993, he appeared in various minor supporting roles in television series and films. In 1997 he got his own show with Ben Miller , the Armstrong and Miller Show. From 2008 to 2013 he appeared in three episodes of Doctor Who . In its offshoot The Sarah Jane Adventures , he spoke the main role of the computer Mr. Smith. In 2012 Armstrong starred as Dominic in the television series Love Life . In 2003 Armstrong married Hannah Bronwen Snow. With this he has three sons.
