The Love of a Blonde is a Czechoslovak fictional film by the director Miloš Forman from 1965. With this film, the director established his international reputation.

action

In a dormitory for young workers that belongs to a large factory, Andula, who is around 17 years old, tells a friend about her experiences: Andula was actually close friends with a boy of the same age, but then she goes with a forester for a short time and finally leaves persuaded the young pianist Milda in a dance hall to spend the night with him. When Andula had a violent argument with her boyfriend a little later, she decided to pack her suitcase and hitchhike to Prague, where she wanted to find Milda in his apartment. However, there she only meets his parents. Because they knew nothing of its existence so far, they try to get details out of it, but they fail. Finally, they allow Andula to stay with them for the night. When Milda comes home from his latest conquest towards morning, there is a violent family row. At first he doesn't want to know the girl at all, and then he denies having invited her. The noise continues in the parents' bedroom. Andula - in tears - returns to her workplace.

Awards

The Love of a Blonde was premiered in 1965 as part of the competition at the Venice International Film Festival , but it received no award. In 1967, nominations for the Golden Globe Award and Oscar in the categories of best foreign language film followed, as well as winning the Danish film prize Bodil (category: best European film ) and the Finnish Jussis ( best foreign director - also for Forman's The Black Peter ).
