Sami Bouajila (born May 12, 1966 in Échirolles , France ) is a French actor .

Life

Sami Bouajila is the son of a Tunisian who moved to France in 1956. His grandfather was a Berber who came to Tunis from Tripoli in 1936 . Bouajila studied drama at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Grenoble and the Comédie de Saint-Étienne . He played in the theater for some time before making his screen debut in the leading role of the camel in the 1991 comedy Aus Liebe zum Geld, directed by Philippe Galland , alongside Sophie Aubry and Christine Citti . For his portrayal of Mehdi in André Téchiné's drama We Were Witnesses , he was honored as Best Supporting Actor at the 2008 French César Film Prize.
