Su Turhan

Su Turhan (Süleyman, born January 1, 1966 in Istanbul ) is a German director , screenwriter and writer of Turkish descent.

Life

Turhan came to Germany as a child of Turkish guest workers at the age of two. He studied German literature with a focus on film philology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and graduated with a Magister Artium . He then worked in the film industry as an editor and producer before setting up his production company GetpiX.

As a cinematic self-taught, he writes, produces and directs his first short film The Key with Rosel Zech and others in 1998 . In 2001 he directed the world's first HD short film Gone Underground , with Katja Flint , Ralph Herforth , Lisa Kreuzer and others. Cinematographer Michael Ballhaus photographs the futuristic thriller, which runs at over 50 festivals (including the Sundance Film Festival ). In 2001 Gone Underground was awarded the Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau Short Film Prize and the German Silver Short Film Prize. Also in 2001 he directed the 360-degree dome film Mutti (with Anja Kling and August Zirner ) and Michael Ballhaus at the camera. In 2004 another short film was made, again photographed by Ballhaus, with the title Triell with Bettina Zimmermann , Florian David Fitz , Tim Seyfi and Thomas Stang , based on the game theory considerations of the mathematician John von Neumann . Su Turhan also writes scripts, shoots commercials and documentaries like Troja - the real story for ZDF and Hightech for Champions for the Discovery Channel.

Su Turhan's feature film debut Ayla was released in theaters in spring 2010. His debut novel "Inspector Pascha: A Case for Zeki Demirbilek" was published on January 4, 2013 as a Knaur paperback. All Kommissar-Pascha titles have been published by Piper Verlag since March 2017 . ARD Degeto filmed the first two novels in coproduction with Bayerischer Rundfunk . The first broadcasts were on March 16 and 23, 2017 in the first.
