Robert Shaw (actor)
Robert Archibald Shaw (born August 9, 1927 in Westhoughton , Great Britain , † August 28, 1978 in Tourmakeady, County Mayo , Ireland ) was a British actor and writer.
Life
He received his acting training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art . In 1949 he made his stage debut. He had his first major film role in the 1954 film May 1943 - The Destruction of the Dam . He became an internationally known star in the role of Donald "Red" Grant , the antagonist of James Bond (played by Sean Connery ) in the second Bond film James Bond 007 - From Moscow with Love and through the 1970s film The Clou (1973) , Stop the Death Ride of Subway 123 (1974) and Jaws (1975).
For the film A Man for Every Season (1966) Shaw was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actor, as well as for a Golden Globe . At the Academy Awards in 1976 he was one of the presenters, along with other well-known actors.
In addition to acting, Robert Shaw was also a writer . He wrote some novels and plays. For his literary work The Sun Doctor he was awarded the Hawthornden Prize . Shaw was married three times and had ten children. From 1963 to 1975 he was married to actress Mary Ure ; there are four children from this marriage. Robert Shaw died of a heart attack at the age of 51 while filming the film Avalanche Express .
