The Young Lion (Original Title: Young Winston ) is a British film from 1972 . The film is based on the book My Early Years: World Adventures in the Service of Winston Churchill . Churchill was portrayed by Simon Ward , who was relatively inexperienced at the time.

action

The first half shows Churchill's unhappy school days after the death of his father, the second his services as a cavalry officer in India , Sudan and Omdurman as well as his experiences as a war correspondent in the Second Boer War , during which he was captured and released. At the age of 26, Churchill was elected to parliament ; The film also addresses this episode of his life.
