Russell Lewis (born September 11, 1963 in London ) is an English screenwriter and actor .

Career

Russell Lewis began his film career as a child actor at the age of six. In 1969 he made his debut in the spy film War in the Mirror ( The Looking Glass War ) as the son of John Avery ( Anthony Hopkins ). In 1972 he played seven-year-old Winston Churchill in Richard Attenborough's film The Young Lion . Other child roles followed, including a. as the young Lucius Caesar in the television series Ich, Claudius - Kaiser und Gott and in 1973 in two horror films alongside Kim Novak ( Tales That Witness Madness ) and David Hemmings ( Voices ).

In the mid-1980s, he began writing scripts for television series. He was involved u. a. on individual episodes of Kavanagh QC , The Amabasadors , Murphy's Law , Spooks - In the Sight of MI5 , Lewis - The Oxford Crime , The Snipers , Cadfael , Hornblower and The Pale Horse in the Agatha Christie's Marple series from ITV . Russell Lewis wrote all of the scripts for The Young Inspector Morse, which has been produced by ITV since 2012 .

Awards

In 1993 Lewis won the Writers' Guild of Great Britain TV - Original Drama Series Award for Between the Lines , along with four other writers on the series. For Hornblower , who won a BAFTA in 1999 , Lewis received three episodes nominations for Best Writing of a Motion Picture or Miniseries .
