Basil Dignam
Basil Dignam (born October 24, 1905 in Sheffield , Yorkshire , England , † January 31, 1979 in Westminster , London , England) was a British actor .
Life
Dignam made his acting debut in the British television production Morning Departure in 1948 . In 1950 he appeared in a production of Arthur Wing Pinero's The Second Mrs. Tanqueray at the Theater Royal Haymarket . In 1954 he played in Charles Langbridge Morgan's The Burning Glass at the Apollo Theater in London's West End .
From the 1950s had Dignam supporting roles in many British productions, including the Hammer - Horror shock , the Carry-on - comedy out head high, chest! and David Leans Lawrence of Arabia . Due to his appearance, he was mostly used as a lawyer, politician or officer.
He has appeared as a guest star in many British television series , including Mit Schirm, Charme und Melone , Department S and Die 2 . At the side of Patrick McGoohan he played in secret commission for John Drake as well as in number 6 .
Dignam was married to actress Mona Washbourne . His brother Mark Dignam also worked as an actor.
