Arthur Wing Pinero
Sir Arthur Wing Pinero (born May 24, 1855 in London , † November 23, 1934 ) was a British playwright and stage actor.
Life
Pinero first followed his Portuguese- born father John Daniel Pinero, a Jewish lawyer, and began studying law. He broke this off, however, and began an engagement with RH Wyndham's Company at the Royal Theater in Edinburgh in 1874 . After he was also on stage in Liverpool , he returned to London in 1876. First he played there at the Globe Theater , but then joined the ensemble of the Lyceum Theater . A short time later he wrote his first pieces. Above all, his comedies made the extremely productive Pinero famous. In 1909 he was promoted to Knight Bachelor .
His romance The Enchanted Cottage has been filmed several times.
