Patricia Neal
Patricia Neal, real name Patsy Louise Neal (born January 20, 1926 in Packard , Kentucky , † August 8, 2010 in Edgartown , Massachusetts ), was an American actress .
Life
Patricia Neal began her career on Broadway and received the Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1947 . She made her film debut in 1949 on the side of Ronald Reagan in John Loves Mary . In 1957 she starred in A Face in the Crowd alongside Walter Matthau and Lee Remick .
In 1964 Neal received the Oscar for best actress in The Wildest Among Thousand . In 1969 she was nominated again for an Oscar for the film Rosen für die Lady .
On July 2, 1953, Neal married the writer Roald Dahl and had five children with him; her son Theo was seriously injured in a traffic accident as a baby; her firstborn Olivia died of measles at the age of 7 . The marriage was divorced on November 17, 1983. During her pregnancy in 1965, Neal suffered three cerebral hemorrhages and was in a coma for almost three weeks; her husband immediately alerted a neurosurgeon. In 1981 this period of her life was filmed as The Patricia Neal Story with Glenda Jackson . In 1988 her autobiography As I Am was published .
Patricia Neal died of lung cancer at her Edgartown home on August 8, 2010, at the age of 84.
