Karl Ludwig Eduard Ferdinand von Kropff (born September 2, 1793 in Charlottenburg , † February 11, 1872 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Karl came from a noble family from Gröningen , to which the knightly imperial nobility came in 1560 . His parents were the hereditary lord of Kattenstedt in the Harz Mountains as well as the Prussian court master Carl Philipp von Kropff (1748-1820) and his wife Karoline Henriette, née Schenck von Flechtingen († 1820).

Career

Kropff began his career in 1806 as a private corporal in the "von Arnim" infantry regiment of the Prussian army . He was in 1812 commissioned officer in the Regiment Garde and in the same year Portepee ensign . In 1813 he was promoted to secondary lieutenant and took part in the wars of liberation . He fought in the battles near Großgörschen , Bautzen , Dresden , Leipzig and Paris , where he was ultimately wounded and received the Iron Cross II class and the Order of St. Vladimir IV class.

After the war, in 1816 with a patent from 1815, he rose to the position of Prime Lieutenant in the 2nd Guards Regiment on foot . In 1820 he was promoted to captain and company commander , in 1834 to major and in 1844 to lieutenant colonel . He was then in 1846, first with the leadership of the 7th Infantry Regiment commissioned and this in the same year as commander Association appointed. After his promotion to colonel in 1847, he was commanding the 2nd Guards Regiment on foot in 1848 and the 2nd Guards Infantry Brigade in 1849 . Also in 1849 Kropff was aggregated to the 2nd Guards Regiment on foot . In 1851 he was promoted to major general and was in command of Rendsburg for two months . In 1852 he was in command of the 3rd Guard Infantry Brigade and was awarded the Order of the Iron Crown, 1st class. On the anniversary of the Battle of Großgörschen in 1853 he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. In 1854 he became a legal knight of the Order of St. John . After becoming commander of the 2nd division in 1855 , he was promoted to lieutenant general. In 1856 he received the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. In 1857 he left with a pension . With his pension he was put up for discussion in 1858 and in 1861 was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle First Class with Oak Leaves. He sold his father's inheritance in Kattenstedt in 1862.

family

Kropff married Berta von Alvensleben (1801-1892) in his first marriage in Berlin in 1820 . After divorcing his first wife on December 11, 1852, he went into a second marriage in 1856 in Danzig with Countess Agnes Prebentow von Przebendowski (1834-1904). The first marriage resulted in eight children, and the second five children.
