Wilhelm Friedrich Schenck von Flechtingen (born November 29, 1730 in Berlin ; † March 8, 1811 there ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and chief of the 7th Dragoon Regiment .

Life

His parents were the commander of the Gensdarmes , Colonel Kersten Friedrich Schenck von Flechtingen (1685–1762) and his wife Christiane Rudolfine, born von Hake († 1741) from the mountains.

Military career

Flechtingen came in 1749 as a private corporal in Dragoon Regiment No. 3 . He was promoted to ensign on June 25, 1751 and second lieutenant on September 3, 1754 . During the Seven Years' War he took part in the battles of Lobositz , Prague , Kolin , Roßbach , Kunersdorf and Reichenbach . On October 11, 1758, he was promoted to prime lieutenant. In 1760 he was assigned to the Württemberg Corps. Because of his excellent behavior, he was transferred to the No. 3 Dragoon Regiment as staff captain . On June 15, 1772 he was then major and squadron chief . During the War of the Bavarian Succession , he received the order Pour le Mérite for his behavior at Möckern . On May 24, 1783 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on May 23, 1785 to colonel .

On May 18, 1790, the commander Johann Ernst von Zabeltitz was assigned to East Prussia and Flechtingen became his deputy. On August 20, 1790 he was appointed major general and on September 26, 1790 he was commander of the Dragoon Regiment No. 3. On August 30, 1791 he was chief of the Dragoon Regiment No. 7 and successor to his old superior Zabeltitz. A little later on January 1, 1796, he was also appointed lieutenant general with a patent on January 6, 1796. On June 8, 1802 he received his resignation and a pension of 2000 thalers. He died unmarried on March 8, 1811 in Berlin.

family

With Eleonore Fritsche he had the son Friedrich Wilhelm (1764-1835). This was legitimized on November 9, 1788, later royal forest master and married Wilhelmine von Grolman (* 1789), a daughter of the Privy Councilor Heinrich Dietrich von Grolman . The Prussian Lieutenant General Hermann von Schenck was his grandson.
