Mr. Merlin is an American television series that aired on CBS in 1981/1982 . In Germany it was first broadcast on ARD in 1983/1984 . Of the total of 22 episodes, only 20 were shown on German television.

The 25-minute episodes are about Max Merlin, a gas station owner in San Francisco . His real identity, however, is Merlin from the Arthurian legend . When he was looking for an apprentice to help out both in the gas station and with magic, his choice fell on Zachary Rogers. However, the sorcerer's apprentice usually applies his skills at the most inopportune time.
A distinctive feature of Mr. Merlin was the great glowing white staircase that led out of a door into the sky.
