Anderland is a 45-part German mystery series for children that was first broadcast on March 4, 1980 on ZDF . The series was directed by George Moorse , Marco Serafini ; Carlo Ianni , Dirk Zalm , Mira Gittner and Loni von Friedl played among others .

action

The TV series Anderland dealt with the psyche of children and was supposed to reflect their everyday reality, but above all their dreams , wishes and way of thinking. In the individual episodes, the inner life of the actors, in this case mainly children, was examined again and again. The aim of the series was, in addition to entertainment, to have an educational effect on the audience. A small man (played by Carlo Ianni and in later episodes by Dirk Zalm) served as a kind of mediator between the adult and children's world . At the end of some episodes, a verse from the Bible was faded in that referred to the content of the story. The individual episodes of the series did not build on each other; each episode was dealt with in about 30 minutes of broadcast time. The topics covered were, for example, grief , loneliness, separation, conflicts or social coexistence. ZDF was responsible for the production.

criticism

The special way of dealing with the inner workings of children and the attempt by adults to put themselves in their psyche resulted in massive criticism of the concept of the series. Many children suffered nightmares from watching Otherland on TV . Apparently the producers had not correctly assessed the sensitivity of children. Anderland was not able to assert itself in the long term and could not build on successful children's series such as Neues aus Uhlenbusch , the successor of which it was planned.

Quote

Strange and often disturbing series that was aimed at preschoolers but still caused nightmares among many school children. The stories were bleak and difficult to access, especially in the first season. (The television dictionary) "
