George Moorse

George Moorse (born May 1, 1936 in New York City , New York , † July 30, 1999 in Cologne ) was an American film director .

Moorse began his work in Germany as a screenwriter, among others for Peter Lilienthal (Claire) . He was considered one of the leading directors of Young German Films and worked on the TV series Anderland . He directed the films Cuckoo Years (1967) and The Findling (1967, based on the novella by Heinrich von Kleist ). He received Federal Film Awards for the short film In side out (1965) and the feature film Lenz (1971). In 1971 he also made the TV horror film Vampira .

Moorse filmed Peter Zadek's work for television and achieved particular popularity as the director of 186 episodes of the cult series Lindenstrasse , for which he worked until his death. He also directed the 1995 film Abduction from Lindenstrasse. George Moorse died in 1999 of a heart attack.

In memory of George Moorse, the ice cream parlor was first called “Café Moorse” in the Lindenstrasse series and “Café George” from mid-2009.

In addition, the film Am Tag als Bobby Ewing died (D 2005) is dedicated to him.
