Cuckoo Years is a 1967 painting by George Moorse with Rolf Zacher in the lead role.

action

At the center of the plot are everyday observations of the predominantly young protagonists. Lively man and idler Hans lives through the day, but finds no more pleasure in his hedonistic thinking . Successful man Ardy is only temporarily suitable for Hans' idol. Petra plans to leave Hans should he want to give up his dolce-far-niente lifestyle. Sybille loves Hans as well as Ardy. He leaves his girlfriend Diane and goes away with Astrid. In his moments of search for meaning, even the older generation, such as his mother, a doctor, and the philosopher Ernst Franken, cannot provide any answers to Hans' search for meaning questions. In his “cuckoo years”, Hans begins to orientate himself on his own experiences in order to find a guideline for his future life as a journalist.

Production notes

Cuckoo Years was created in April and May 1967 in Germany and Switzerland and was premiered on November 7, 1967 in the Hamburg Passage Cinema. On October 24, 1970 the film was shown on television for the first time on ZDF .

Gert Möbius (* 1943), the brother of the musician Rio Reiser , took on the equipment and costumes. The 17-year-old Ralph Möbius alias Rio Reiser was also minimally involved in this production: He painted expensive Schinkel mugs bought at KaDeWe with the Viet Cong flag.

Wolfgang Petersen and Daniel Schmid were Moorses assistant directors. Supporting actress Magda von Arent was the daughter of the Reich set designer Benno von Arent .

criticism

The Lexicon of International Films stated: "The superbly photographed film aims to portray the attitude towards life and the unease of the young generation of the 1960s, but is less critical than staged with gags."
