Wolfgang Ramsbott

Wolfgang Ramsbott (born July 7, 1934 in Hamburg ; † May 30, 1991 in Berlin ) was Professor of Experimental Film at the Berlin University of the Arts .

life and work

After the first state examination in law, Ramsbott initially worked as a trainee lawyer from 1960 to 1962 and also worked for the magazine twen . Between 1962 and 1965 he worked as a picture editor for the magazine magnum . In 1964 he was entrusted with the management of the film department of the Literary Colloquium in Berlin , which he held until 1982. From 1965-1968 Ramsbott was a guest lecturer in experimental film at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg operates. Since 1973 he has held a professorship for film design at the Berlin University of the Arts and has been a member of the Akademie der Künste since 1984 .

In addition to his experimental films, Wolfgang Ramsbott published depictions of film art, including the chronology of kinetic art (1959), film (1977), film censorship through film evaluation - film censorship through film funding (1983). Ramsbott has received various awards for his work, for example the modern photography award (New York 1959) and the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale (1963, together with Harry Kramer ).

Ramsbott died in 1991 at the age of 56 and was buried in the family grave at the Kalk cemetery in Cologne .
