Werner Hinz

Werner Hinz (born January 18, 1903 in Berlin , † February 10, 1985 in Hamburg ) was a German actor .

Life

Werner Hinz studied at the Max Reinhardt School of the German Theater and made his debut in 1922 with the play Spring Awakening by Frank Wedekind . He made his film debut in 1935 with the film The Old and Young King . In 1940/41 he embodied the son of the Boer leader in the Nazi propaganda film Ohm Krüger .

As a voice actor he lent a. a. Gregory Peck ( Macomber affair ), Michel Piccoli ( The Leap into the Void ), Stephen McNally ( Winchester '73 ) and Ralph Richardson ( Anna Karenina , 1947; Little Heart in Need ) his voice.

In 1949 he received the GDR National Prize for his acting performance in Bertolt Brecht's mother Courage and her children at the Berliner Ensemble in a collective . Werner Hinz was honored with a Bambi in 1968 for his work . In 1984 he received the silver mask award from members of the Hamburger Volksbühne . In 1983 he was awarded the Golden Camera .

Werner Hinz was married to the actress Ehmi Bessel . Their two children Knut and Michael also became actors. The daughter Dinah , who came from a relationship between Ehmi and the aviator general Ernst Udet , also became an actress.

Werner Hinz is buried in the Dahlem cemetery in Berlin .

His written estate is in the archive of the Academy of Arts in Berlin.
